Level of Expertise: Good

Pros: compatibility, Fast/Speed, features, high quality, performs well, reliability, value for money

Was interested in getting a firewall that had both VPN tunnel capability, as well as remote user VPN from anywhere with a Mac. Most less expensive firewalls only offer a solution for Windows. The included SSL VPN was a very simple solution for both platforms. Tunnel between a Watchguard and Sonicwall TZ170 works great, once you find the right settings.

Nice features all around, and easy to use firewall policies make is easy to completely lock down your router, so only those ports you want to use (in and out) get opened. Using the optional network for "guest" use of one of my WAP's works great, though I was hoping for more capabilities when routing between the trusted and optional networks. For that type of application, a Sonicwall might be more friendly.

All in all, for the price I got everything I was looking for. Some day all these intrusion prevention companies might offer more reasonable annual maintenance (Live Security) contracts. Way too expensive to pay for that.

Pros: flawless feature rich performance
Cons: limited firewall rule complexity

Rich features and solid performing firewall/vpn appliance. After searching for the perfect device for SOHO sites this meets the mark. Other devices had similar features, but failed under traffic load, with complex firewall rules, or with more than 5 or so DHCP clients.

This appliance actually works as advertised! In some cases, even better.
